A little about us
Promoting a safer community since 1999
Palmerston North Community Patrol is a volunteer organisation based in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
Our primary purpose is to help keep our community safe through regular, directed patrols around Palmerston North and surrounding areas.
We work alongside NZ Police and operate with the mandate to observe and report.
Palmerston North Community Patrol was set up in Palmerston North in 1999 after the community was looking for a way to help reduce crime in our City. The patrol is administered as a Charitable Trust (CC20067).
Palmerston North Community Patrol is managed by an elected Management Committee made up from our membership.
We patrol Palmerston North, Ashhurst, and surrounding areas in our marked vehicles day and night, looking out for anything that is suspicious or of concern. We either report it immediately to the Police or, if not serious, submit a written report for action later.
During 2019 alone, Palmerston North Community Patrol volunteers gave a total of 2,192 hours and travelled 12,275 kilometres.
Palmerston North Community Patrol is affiliated to Community Patrols of New Zealand which has over 140 affiliated Patrols throughout NZ.
